Any form of traumatic brain injury is head injury, but head injury is never necessarily traumatic brain injury.
Clinically, head injury mainly has two types which are traumatic brain injury and acquired brain injury respectively:
Traumatic brain injury, abbreviated to TBI, is always a result of some kind of external force to the brain, such as a blow to the head.
Acquired brain injury, abbreviated to ABI, caused by a tumor or some kind of neurological illness, such as a stroke, is generally associated with pressure on the brain.
