What are the Clinical Manifestations of a Child with Cerebral Palsy


There are a variety of clinical manifestations for a child with cerebral palsy. There would be different clinical manifestations for various types of cerebral palsy and different damaged parts, even for the same child, he or she would have different ones over time.
(1) Abnormal posture and muscle tone.
(2)Active movements are progressively reducing.
(3)Physical retardation: Individuals with cerebral palsy can’t lift head within 100 days, can’t spread hands after 4 months of birth, don’t know how to reach for grasping objects after 4 months of birth, can’t smile and recognize people with a abnormal face after 4 to 6 months of birth, can’t sit after 8 months, can’t crawl after 10 months, can’t walk after 15 months.
(4) Abnormal reflexes: primitive reflex delay disappears, protective reflex weakens or don’t appear. For example, when the individuals are sitting, you push them in all directions, but they just don’t know how to support themselves by hands.
