How to Treat Children with Dyskinetic CP

Dyskinetic CP has brought great sufferings to patients, especially children, because it affects the growth of children as well as their mental status. How to treat children with Dyskinetic CP? It’s a big topic in the front of us.
I. Clinical characteristics of Dyskinetic CP
Dyskinetic CP is mainly caused by the injury of extrapyramidal system due to hypoxic ischemic brain damage or bilirubin encephalopathy.
Its clinical characteristics and symptoms mainly include:
1. Abnormal postures and retarded growth of children
Children with this type of CP will suffer from a twisted body and head bent to one side. The unsymmetrical postures may cause pelvis incline and spinal curvature. Besides, the patients can’t raise their heads and maintain stable body postures.
2. Involuntary body movements.
Patients will experience involuntary movements, such as slow movements of hands and lower limbs, tremor and so on. Young children will have high muscle tone and are sensitive to voices, light and touches before it.
3. Fluctuation of muscle tensions
The suffered children may experience sudden onset of high muscle tone once they become mentally stressed, frightened or excited. Sudden muscle cramps is the dominating symptom, such as exaggerated facial expression, sudden postural change, irritable movements, etc.
4. Severe motor dysfunction.
Patients usually can’t sit alone at their 1 to 2 years old and maintain good sitting postures at 6 or 7 years old because of poor head control and weak muscle tone.
As it worsens, joint deformity and muscle cramps may cause spinal curvature, thoracic deformation, twisted toe or wrists, inward bending of hip and knee joints, and so on.
5. Diffuse body disorders.
Most children have vision, hearing and speech disorders. Intermittent cramps of their bodies may be accompanied and side curvature of the body can cause secondary torticollis and strabismus.
II. How to treat children with Dyskinetic CP
Stem cell treatment is a great breakthrough in the research of Dyskinetic CP treatment. Stem cells can work directly on the impaired brain nerve cells, repair and replace them, which helps restore the nerve function.
In our clinical practices on over 2700 cases, 87% of the patients are improved in their high muscle tone (spasm), and motor dysfunction, such as the increased muscle strength and ability to walk, stand and sit.
