A Letter from SCI Patient

Background:
Stem cell treatment for SCI has brought hope of life for Li Ning, a strong and handsome boy, 30 years old. An unexpected car accident made him high-level quadriplegia that although he survived the spinal cord injury, he had to suffer from the complete loss of sensory function in both his lower limbs except moving his shoulders and gatism.

This is a letter from Li Ning’s elder sister:
June, 7th, 2011.
Distinguished Prof. An:
I am Li Ning’s elder sister, who got car crash and operated in the Second Auxiliary hospital of Harbin Medical University. He was diagnosed as spinal cord transverse injury at C5—C6, resulting in high-level quadriplegia.
In December, 3rd, 2011, we came to stem cell center for stem cell treatment for SCI.
Staff and doctors were so responsible and kind to take care of my brother, and arranged our operation. Only less than a month, we finished treatment and went back home.
Now I am writing to you to tell you good news that my brother is getting improved miraculously. He can lift up both his hands above his head at the same time, and he had strength in his waist. The best is that he can feel pain in his legs and feet. He can feel his defecation and urine. We can see the hope for him to stand up again. We appreciate so much about stem cell treatment for SCI.
Now we are planning to make the second course of stem cell treatment, and we have to ask help from your stem cell center, because we really have no more money to proceed due to the years’ treatment. We heard of that you have a love fund for poor families. We sincerely request for application of love fund.
