Goodbye, my Crutch

Recently, a young man of 27 years old became famous in our center, because he abandoned his crutch that is with him for 10 years, and walked out of our center himself. The man is named Xiao Tao, a cerebral palsy patient.
A strong boy with a hard crutch
Xiao Tao was affected with cerebral palsy when he was born due to leukodystrophy caused by oxygen loss supply to brain. Cerebral palsy made him feel stiffed and restricted movements with his limbs, especially in his lower limbs, that he couldn’t walk by himself. Besides, cerebral palsy affected his growth that he is smaller than common people. The most attractive place in him is his crutch, or we can call it a stick, his “legs” in the past 10 years. It’s smooth but hard.
Looking for cure
What could I do with cerebral palsy? Xiao Tao was always asking himself. Xiao Tao is just like his stick, warm-hearted and strong. Although he had cerebral palsy, he never gave up his life and treatment. He learnt computer by himself, and make money by his techniques. Meanwhile, he had been looking for the effective treatment for cerebral palsy that brought him the nightmare of disability. He wanted to drop his crutch forever. However through years’ treatment, he was disappointed. He received many treatments, including myotendolysis, but it indicated little effect for his nerves, muscles and bones of lower limbs.

A Letter from SCI Patient

Background:

Remarkable Effect of SCT treatment for HSP

Hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP) is a degenerative disease of nervous system. How to manage the HSP? Now we are talking about this topic.
I. Goal for the Treatment of HSP
The goal for the treatment of HSP is to relieve the high muscle tone, improve the motor dysfunction, inhibit the progression and prevent the relevant complications.
II. Clinical manifestation:
HSP occurs most often in childhood and puberty, and other ages are also available. Male is more likely to be affected. Usually people have positive hereditary history for this disease.
How to manage the HSP? People with HSP will suffer from a progressive spastic myasthenia in both their lower limbs, high muscle tone, sthenic tendon reflex activity, knee and ankle clonus, X-walk and so on. The complications may include optic atrophy, pigmentary degeneration of retina, extrapyramidal system symptoms, cerebellar ataxia, disturbance of sensation, mental retardation, epicophosis (deaf), amyotrophia, autonomic nervous dysfunction. III. Auxiliary examination:

1. SEP (Somatosensory Evoked Potential)
SEP shows nerve fiber and corticospinal tract conduction velocity decreases in lower limbs of HSP patients.
2. EMG (electromyogram)
Denervation change may be found in these HSP patients, but peripheral nerve conduction velocity keeps normal.
3. MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)
Usually the MRI shows normal in the brain. But for some special cases, people may show cerebral atrophy, cerebellar atrophy or amyelotrophy (spinal cord atrophy) in their cervical and thoracic vertebra.
IV. Treatment for HSP:
How to manage the HSP? In clinic, Stem Cell Transplantation treatment for HSP turns out much better effect than conventional therapies, especially for these who were found earlier.
1. Conventional therapies

The First “Mum” after My Son’s Birth

Allen is a lovely boy, our staff in the center and his families love him so much. When the boy first came to our center, he was diagnosed with “hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy”, namely cerebral palsy.
He experienced much suffering in the world before he knows the world. He was born when he was 28 weeks, and showed many abnormal symptoms, including:
1. poor reaction capacity, and apathy expression
2. only can pronounce “dad, hug”, never say “mum”

4. High muscle tone in his lower limbs and his legs are hard to separate. He could only slowly and clumsily turn over.

The high muscle tone decreased and strength in waist increased, which supported him creep or turn over freely.

I Have much Better Control of My Urine and Defecation after SCT

"I have much better control of my urine and defecation" Mr. Chen looks so relieved with his improvements after his stem cell treatment for spinal cord injury when we made this interview.
He was suffered from cervical injury (C6-C7) of surgical cord injury (SCI) in a car accident in fall of 2004. He underwent CT-guided stem cell transplantation twice and lumbar puncture transplantation once during his treatment in our center in June 2007 when is 3 years after his SCI.

Xiao Di is 24 years old, but unable to live as a normal person, because he is affected with “cerebral palsy”. How to treat motor dysfunction caused by cerebral palsy is the first and biggest problem for him.
The boy suffered a lot from the disease and inappropriate treatments before he came to our center. He is a premature, and he was born when he was 27 weeks. He experienced fetal asphyxia due to hypoxia, which made him grow slower than normal babies. He couldn’t raise his head when he was 3 months, and couldn’t sit alone when he was 7 weeks. My Indicators of Liver Cirrhosis Turns Normal by SCT

The Turning Point for My Son’s Life

Unbelievably, most of Xiao Bo’s symptoms are improved by stem cell treatment for cerebral palsy, his parents was so excited and promised to make the second course of treatment, because they’ve found the cure for Xiao Bo.

Xiao Bo is 3 years old, but he had been affected with “lalopathy (speech dysfunction) and motor retardation” for 2 years. The boy was the first twin in premature birth of only 29 weeks plus 3 days. He had only 1.3 kg after birth. Due to postpartum anoxia, he was suffered from cerebral palsy (diagnosed as spasm type).
When he first came to our center in April, 18th, 2011, he appeared so soft that he couldn’t even stand and sit well, because he had no strength in his limbs and waist. He was incapable of creeping forward with his hands and legs. When he sat there, he seemed a bow due to lack of strength in his waist. He couldn’t stand even leaning against the wall. Only with the help of other people, he could stand. Besides, he couldn’t raise his two hands at the same time.
In the following 20 days, we made him the first course of stem cell treatment for cerebral palsy. We observed that he responsed well to the stem cells and improved rapidly.
The follow-up survey of 10 months after his treatment showed that he could creep normally and sit steadily as other child due to the increased strength in his waist. He never seemed a bow when sitting. Besides, he could stand leaning against the wall without any extra support, and he could use his hands freely.

I Could Feel My Toes for the First Time after Gun Shot

In 6th December, 2011, we made an interview for Mohammed Ali after his stem cell treatment for spinal cord injury, he told us: “My back is stronger, I can sit for longer time and I feel more sensation. I could feel my toes for the first time. I feel much better than when I came. “
Mohammed was suffered from a gun shot in September 2011. The injuries resulted in the fracture of spine and lamina of T-11 with intramural foreign bodies (many bullet fragments) in the posterior paravertebral musculature.

Stem Cell Treatment Wakes Up My 15-Years Dead Legs

Stem Cell Treatment for spinal cord injury is a huge project in China and internationally, however it helps ordinary people. Sometimes it’s thought as the potential cure for spinal cord injury due to its remarkable effect on SCI.
Wang Yu is an ordinary migrant labor in a city, who came from a poor countryside of Sichuan province, China. But his faith to live and strong character touched many people.
Accident destroy his family
In 1995, 20 year-old Wang Yu came to Panyu, Guangdong province and worked in a construction site. Unfortunately, he fell down from 9 meters high. He lost feeling below his navel and couldn’t move both his lower limbs at that time. Besides, gatism occurred. He was sent to local hospital and diagnosed as T-12 comminuted fracture and spinal cord injury in the affected section.
Wang Yu was sent to many big hospitals in Chengdu and Chongqing city and received 8 surgeries successively, but it turned ineffective. He still couldn’t stand and walk, and his gatism continued.
A great will of ordinary worker
What was worse, Wang Yu was affected with ischial tuberosity osteomyelitis and muscle atrophy in both his legs, as well as hip fester due to wrong home care. The lower part of his body turned nearly paralysis. Because of fibrosis of spinal cord, gatism, muscle atrophy in lower part, his nerve and muscle tissue is dying and his scaring increased the risks for infection. Therefore, at his last moment, Wang Yu decided to make a last will: body donation in September, 2010.
The last hope
At that moment, a science program in China central television advocated that stem cell treatment for spinal cord injury turns out miraculously effective in clinic. Wang Yu saw his last hope for life, and he contacted the 301 hospital of PLA and 463 hospital of PLA. The reply is yes, but the cost is too expensive.
